About Kris

Kris Hunt is a trans athlete residing here in Barre, VT. He is an avid cyclist with a wide array of skills and a kind and gentle demeanor. From Mountain Bike racing, to gravel adventure racing, bike camping tours, and bike commuting, he posses all the skills and experience to help you step into mountain biking as a first timer as well as help you polish the skills you already have.
For the past two years Kris has ridden his bicycle every single day. As a long time resident of the Graniteville area and current Millstone Trails Association Board member Kris posses a lifetime of intimate knowledge about the Millstone Trails.

We're welcoming all femme, trans, women, and non-binary riders to this ride as a safe place to learn and discuss mountain bike skills and enjoy a wonderful ride through some of the best trails in Vermont. Please note that any riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We hope you can join us!

The Skills Clinic:

Starts at 10:00 AM sharp. It would be a good idea to arrive no later than 9:30am so that you can prepare yourself and your gear for the day.
A basic skills clinic covering bike handling skills in multiple terrains. From simple single track riding to small obstacles Kris will offer advice and help you embrace the challenges of mountain biking.
We'll also be teaching a basic flat repair class.

The MTB Ride:

We'll be riding both intermediate and beginner level trails at Millstone Trails after the clinic. Kris will guide riders on a 9ish mile no drop ride mixing intermediate and beginner single track and double track trails, expect some climbing and a little bit of technical riding as well. You don't have to attend the clinic to ride!
We want to make sure we allow enough time for those attending the clinics to be comfortable with their new skills before riding, because of this we will not have a set time for the ride start. Feel free to gather and encourage other riders and even take to exploring a little bit of Millstone before the official ride start!

Required items:

• A safe bicycle helmet: We ask that you verify that your helmet has not passed the expiration date and is rated for off road mountain bike riding.
• A flat repair kit, which should include: A bike pump or CO2 inflation device in proper working order, a spare tube for your bike, tire levers, and a way to carry those items.
• A bicycle rated for off road mountain biking. If you aren't sure, then it probably isn't. The best way to know is to visit a bicycle shop with your bike and ask them. If you purchased your bicycle at a bicycle shop it is most likely rated for this activity. If you still aren't sure, Vermont Bicycle Shop can answer questions about this in person or via email. Please verify before the ride. For the safety of the other riders we cannot allow bicycles not rated for off road use to join the ride.
• A ziploc bag with in case of emergency contact info inside to carry on your person for the ride.
• An open, welcoming, and inclusive spirit, we mean to make a safe environment for everyone to learn.
